Long Hard Night

The sun sets-

Cantaloupe sky.
An ending to a long day;
The beginning of an even
Longer night

Coffee
Chocolate bars
Potato chips
Necessary for this long,

Hard,

Night.

Hours Pass too quickly
As though an outside force
Controls the hands

Of this daunting clock.
Pressure leaves me

Helpless.

The speed in my fingers
Slows
Exhaustion fills my breath

No more than a

Whisper in silence.
Warm vent near my toes,
But a cold surface-

Not quite the pillow one would hope for.

The sun slowly rises,
Darkness waning away.

I see blue skies out the window
Birds sing

“Come away!”
Soft kitten fur caresses my face

Swishing under my nose

Across my lips.
Strong arms wrap around me
Gently kiss my cheek

A small congratulation to

Success.

This reminds me of a daap. Except there were never any strong arms in the morning nor was there success because I more than likely fell asleep :)
