Childish Memory

Under the once lost moon,
I lay on the still warm grass,
burned by an everlasting sun
I stare up at the stars.
Like a child,
I try to reach them,
reach up to every little diamond in the sky
keep them all to myself
but give the brightest to my closest friend.
To the friend that always made me smile,
to the friend that was always there for me,
to the friend that shines brighter then the star he now owns;
thank you.
A heavy rain pours down on me,
drenched in a thousand tears
of the clouds
that cried for the now gone stars;
I apologize for what I have done.
Tonight,
the angels will play rock ’n’ roll
while the demons fall asleep in peace.
Tonight,
the moon stays lonely,
as if she was in the city,
no stars to accompany her.
Tonight,
I will close my eyes
while surrounded by a million sparkling lights,
I spread my wings to fly to a faraway place;
a place I call happiness.

i enjoyed this free verse poem and i thought it was sweet that you would give the brightest star to your best friend...I would probably do the same because my two best friends mean the world to me. I never really stop and just look at the stars like i used to as a child and this poem just made me remember how beautiful the stars are. I remember when i was little and tried to see pictures out of the stars. Ireally enjoyed this piece...keep writing ( :
