Your reflection in the mirror is
Smooth, placid, calm:
Beautiful, but you can’t look away,
And every moment that you continue
To gaze into the crystal glass mirror
Your image becomes tainted,
Splattered with imperfections,
Like black paint on a clean, white canvas.
You judge your appearance harshly
With a sharp razors edge
Searching for faults, that
Are beginning to make themselves
Painstakingly clear, and soon
You can’t see any beauty at all
In your reflection. All that’s left is
The ugly, the wrong, and the not good enough
That is left behind by an attempt at
Perfection.

ok, so your writing is amazing. there is something about the way that you write, and the words that you choose that just hit me. you are definatley one of my favourite poets on teenink!! this poem is incredibley awesome.

Wow! Good for you for writing about such a painful, but prevalent issue. It breaks my heart, but I‘m so glad that poetry like this can shed some light on touchy topics and bring some understanding.

This is spectacular! It's so true, and a great representation of what's happening to everyone these days, and normal isn't enough any more.
