Frailty

How could honey ever taste sour?
How could a rose have so many thorns?
The Cupid’s arrow everybody waits for
Crossed my essence and there it festered;
A profound deceit or docile soar?

His heavenly touch and harmless hands
Pitilessly drenched my joy in an instant;
Treason and abuse, desperate to catch my eye -
Inhuman of one to offer an oath
A frail spirit could never deny

So wise yet so brittle-
Can I fight this malady?
Aghast by his scheme
Yet submissive for one whisper;
A search for which my heart is keen

How could a charm grow into an illusion?
An art much acclaimed by naive observers;
How could the softest wind squander everything?
So anesthetized, I'm so anesthetized by the delighted bee's sting;

The collision can still be heard
When inside me it prevails
Helpless I fight
But it won’t perish,
It won’t perish…

The author's comments:
I just enjoy writing poems, and those related to love seem to me particularly striking. This one I wrote after a personal experience and thought: why not share it? Maybe there are many "lovefools" out there too who will understand this.
