The Silent Forest
I stood at the edge
of the silent forest
and screamed at the trees
They, content to hide
behind their thick bark shells
Alive, but not living
Breathing, but unmoving
Are they conscious?
Do they feel?
When the wind rushes amongst them
They scream back
or sometimes whisper…
Discontent
But they’re still not moving
Still not living
and I don’t think they ever will.
