Lavender plastic, once
a pendant hanging from a child's wrist, a child
who had received a birthday bracelet in her favorite color and promptly
lost it on an ocean dive

Lavender plastic, but with the multifaceted glint of diamond
a perfect bead, freed
from its elastic ties, confined
once to a child's wrist,
now en voyage across the universe
atop rippling cerulean masterpiece

Lavender plastic, toppled by wind to the banks of Tunisia
wondering about all the world it may see
orange fruits flushed and sweet dangling over the Riviera
lush and dense dreams of Congo greens
