The Call
Now all there is left to do is wait
 for that devastating call.

The call that says you are
no longer with the one who love you anymore
 that your big strong heart
 grew weak and stopped beating

The call that will inform me
that you have gone to a better place
where there is no such thing
 as chemo or radiation
or even cancer for the matter

The call that will tell me that
there will be an empty spot next to me at the dinner table for now on
and that I can no longer cheat off of you when we play our family games

The call that makes me realize
that you wont be able to see me
walk down the aisle or watch my children grow up

 So now I'm waiting
 for that dreadful awful call
 that will break my heart
 and change my life forever.
