"If music is the food of love then play on" - William Shakespeare

My lips are moving,
But no sound comes out.
Or maybe my voice falls upon deaf ears.
I am screaming,
Face red,
Tear streaked,
And lonely.
Don’t you see?
No, you can’t see me
So you can’t hear me either.
The way I scream out your name,
Willing you to come back,
To glance in my direction.
Don’t you see?
I want you to notice me.
To see the effort I’ve put into life.
To scream “I AM SOMEONE!”
Someone worth listening to.
Someone worth respecting.

The author's comments:
This poem is about how the teenage voice is often silenced or forgotten in today's society because adults figure we don't know anything. This poem was written to show that we have opinions and ideas that should not be silenced.
