Images flickering in my head like flames of a candle
Memories dancing with prowess on the stage of my mind
My heart skipping like pebbles with each step
Soaring high among the sweet chirps of the birds
In the specks of grainy sunlight
The drum of my heart booms in my chest
Echoing the past of a nearby Breton village
Calling the music to me
Like rain in a dry desert plain
The smooth patters of rhythmic feet
The sharp turning of the wheel of pinkies
Accordions unwinding each wave of sound
Bombardes shrieking shrilly
The light of the night shines
The spark of joy and laughter never ceasing
To burn my insides
Fest-Noz

The author's comments:
This is a poem I wrote during my junior year of high school studying abroad in Rennes, France. I was inspired by my activity, Breton folk dancing (the traditional dancing of the region of Bretagne or Brittany) and describe my experience at a Fest-Noz, a large, exciting spectacle/gathering where everybody dances together.
