He was there
Just because you didn’t see his face
Doesn’t mean he wasn’t there
Just because you didn’t feel his embrace
Doesn’t mean he doesn’t still care
He was there in the love you felt on Thanksgiving night
He is there in the glow of the full moons light
Grieving is not the process of letting go
Or erasing memories of the past
It’s just another way of learning how to grow
And making sure the memories always last
He was there shining in every light you saw on Christmas Eve
He is there telling you to be strong and that you have to believe
Even if you cannot hear his laugh or see his grin
Remember that he is resting in peace
And since the love you had came from within
His presence will never cease
He was there in the excitement on New Year’s Day
He is there in your heart and there he will always stay
Since he has gone I know that life has seemed unfair
But things are sure to get easier as the days drag on
Know that you are surrounded by people who care
And since he is in our hearts he will never truly be gone
He was there in our tears as we said our goodbyes
He is there watching over us from where he resides
