The Ocean
I walk to ocean's edge
Afraid, feeling I am on a tight-rope.
I do not want to fall, I do not want to
Let the ocean fill me up
And take me under
Keep me prisoner.
The dead of winter
I walk barefoot
Leaving my temporary mark
On the world.
The coldness
I don't feel it
The loneliness
Isn't there.
Me and the ocean
Apart from the world
Me and the ocean
Scared and afraid.
But me and the ocean
Are courageous and bright
We are not scared
We are not afraid.
But no one will
Ever know
Who we truly are
Inside.
Me and the ocean
No one
Will ever
Know.
