Ten Long Months.
Over ten long months,
a security blanket changes.
It tears at the seams, before you sew it again.
It gets stained and worn and tattered,
all willingly and with pride.
It collects dust while you're happy,
absorbs tears when you're sad.
Over ten long months,
a security blanket becomes a necessity.
For when your heart is breaking
and for when fear makes your head spin.
Its warm, familiar comfort keeps you safe.
And I will always keep you safe.
When you need me, just
take me off this high shelf,
brush off the dust,
and I will be here.
Warm as ever.
