The Road I Traveled By
I have walked along this dirty path for quite some time,
Never knowing were it leads.
And sitting now among the fallen leaves,
I wonder if I truly care.
For sitting here is but a waste of time,
Of which I do not have.
And in this I am comforted,
It is one of the few given in life.
Time will pass,
It passes now as I ponder and later as I sleep.
And even as I weep.
From my perch I watch as my peers come across my path and continue on their way.
I watch as they disappear into the into the dimming light.
I panic now,
For I am being left behind.
I pick my path,
It is bright, sunny, and I continue on my way.
And knowing now what I did not before I would have chosen differently.
The path I chose has led me nowhere.
And there is where I sit as I watch the sand slip slowly through the tube.
It is a symbol of my life as it slowly slips away.
Because this is the road that I traveled by.
