"It makes no difference who or what you are, old or young, black or white, pagan, Jew, or Christian, I want to love you all and be loved by you all, and I mean to have your love." -Victoria Woodhull

Her eyes thick
with loving sorrow,
her strength
does not prevail.
An upcoming apology
rests on the tip
of her tongue, yet
her narrow lips
don’t have the
obedience to open.
Her hair rests
upon her shoulders,
a veil of an
obscure shade.
Lips constrained tightly—
creases born—
she lifts her frail
arms to me.
A hug.
An offering.
