Whole and Brilliant
The sky swells a brilliant red
And therein ethereal clouds are bred
Born of seas and lakes and streams
With which we quench our thirst
The pigeon and eagle alike
Soar across this brilliant sky
The weed and the rose
In the earth together take root
Both the nightshade and the apple tree bear plump fruit
Both the wretched among us
And mankind's kindest souls
Receive the fresh dew
And each brazen morning, too
Because Your mercy
Affords us grace
Day after day after day
How can we point our fingers at You
And argue against You
Ignoring what You do?
We are utterly unawares
Of the love You crown us with
Day after day after day
Keeping us, more than we know, out of harm's way
Your gentleness has made me great
And Your kindness woos my soul
Your tenderness has healed my heart
And Your love, it makes me whole
