A Short Lived Burst of Light
somewhere between the
here
and there
of our lives we collided
like speeding cars on black ice
in the dead of December
and fireworks erupted from our unexpecting hearts
i looked at you and
you looked at me
and the sky fell while stars replaced our eyes
we pulled each other from the wreckage
of our lives
and turned it into art
we coloured the dull world vibrant hues of i love you
and smudged the pastel sunsets with tender kisses
and we became the van goghs of life
with interlaced fingers we faced the world
racing through throngs of barely breathing people
and down barren city streets cloaked in night air
while the moon winked stolen sunlight upon your carefree face
we built forts out of pillows and blankets
underneath only we existed
and in our micro universe
you kissed my nose and cheeks and lips
while i traced the outline of your spine, each and every dip
and we both relished in the feeling of flesh against flesh
for a tenth of a second in the spectrum of all that is
and was
and will be
it was not you and me but we
blissfully we disappeared into
the centers of ourselves
our head over heels supernova
too far gone to see when it imploded
sucking us into a black hole of our own creation
when we finally opened our eyes
there was nothing to see
because we had wanted nothing
(but us)
but then we were nothing
and all our passion was null~
