‘The greatest demonstration of freedom and equality’
A time when we acted with improbity
A man rose up above the rest
His work is considered among the best
He fought for freedom, he fought for rights
He lit up our hope’s darkest nights

The world stopped to listen to his dreams
His supporters quickly dubbed him supreme
His voice rang out, loud and clear; ‘Justice must be a reality’
There must come an end to this police brutality
O’ Dr. King you painted a picture with your visual modality

African- Americans should have been granted full citizenship long ago
But the answer was written in a blood red No
Then came a man who challenged this discrimination
With offerings of peace, friendship, and positive imagination
O’ Dr. King you tried to bring us together as a nation

He possessed pure ideals and unbelievable courage
He ignored the plight and people’s great disparage
He changed this America with his soulful demonstrations
That final equality would bring wide spread elation
O’ Dr. King your speeches were of wonderful creation

But from the shadows lurked that someone
Who held to his chest a large shotgun
He despised the idea of blacks free of hate in his town
So he shot Martin Luther King Jr. down
O’ Dr. King your dream lived on and now segregation is thankfully gone

Once again, you have written a heartbreakingly beautiful poem. I love your poetry, they always have such emotional power with every word.
