Nine Yards

The Whole Nine Yards can take you off a cliff.
The whir of bullets through large clouds
lick the metal of passing planes.
Sitting there,
you load the next nine yards
and feel your heart drop,
your mother's voice pins you down
as the enemies fall around you,
like blackberries into a bowl of milk.
And their screams like a needle through your stomach.
