My Sun
Peripherals give me the gift of the sun
the glowing orb millions of miles away
pales not in power or beauty but lacks
cold
the center of the universe--
incapable of rejection
burning thermals enclose me with
bright fingers of embrace
clasping my farenheit with its joules
unavoidable ultraviolets kiss my ceramic melanin
leaving whispers of cracks on my youth
--soft reminders of my naivety
such a companion for life…
to be there when I rise
and glimmer silently through the night
with a lover’s name of
moon.
