Light Me Up and Watch Me Burn
I’m not a fire,
You can’t just light me up and watch me burn.
I’m not a slinky,
You can’t stretch me to fit your needs.
I’m not a sponge,
You can’t expect me to soak in all of you and feel nothing.
I’m not stupid,
You can’t expect me to watch you with her and believe you still love me.
I’m not a little girl,
You can’t expect me to just stand here; oblivious.
I’m not blind,
You are.
I’m not a tissue,
You can’t just use me when you have problems...and then throw me away.
I’m not strong,
You can’t just tear me apart.
I’m not waiting here forever,
You can’t have her and tell me that you wish it was me.
I am not a fire,
You cannot just light me up and watch me burn.
