burning
with a sunburned mind I think
how can such a simple place be fatal?
fatal sun
fatal ground
this is what you get inside an oven
with the sky
a huge vacuum, sucking the life out
like poison from a wound
except you die when you’re cured
the very spit from my sliced up lips is vapor
the heat waves conjure up the idea that there’s water
but then my eyes sting and I shut them quickly
wiping my brow, the sweat gnaws at my nerves
the sand in my boots carve away at my feet, the way they carve a canyon
am I here?
