The Past Is The Future
Rocking in his chair, relaxed and content
He looks up at his wife, the love of his life.
They begin reminiscing of the years that flew by.
The kids are all gone, living their lives.
He did well as a father but is now realizing,
That he and his wife took it all for granted.
They never took a minute to stop
And appreciate what they were given.
He looks into her sad eyes and says;
“How I wish we didn’t hate those years while we lived them”.
She nods in agreement.
But now that they know how fast it flew by,
They promise to cherish each day with joy and pride.
Life for them was hectic, hard and exhausting.
But they have the rest of their lives to reflect on the past.
For now on they will live in the memories that last.
