One Final Glimpse
Descending slowly downward.
 Falling father and farther
 Away from the surface.
 The sun’s usual bright,
 Distinctive,
 And glistening rays disappearing.

 Becoming nothing more
 Than faded chaotic lines,
 Cutting and slicing,
 Back and forth
 Above you.

 You stretch out your hand,
 Trying to break the surface.
But the power of the water
 Holds you hostage below.

 Hopeless,
 Alone.
 You give in,
Let the weight of the water
 Press in against you.

 Gazing up,
 You’re hoping to catch
 One final glimpse
 Of the sun’s light…
 However,
 You don’t always get
 What you want.
