"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." -Anonymous

Staring at the pallid, blank page laid before me
Confusion blocking out any sense of production
As questions pile higher and higher…

A journey overflowing with barriers
Of complicated obstacles to be overcome
From breezily strolling through clear pathways
To clumsily stumbling on the steep ridges
Of a jagged mountain face

An attempt to quickly reach your destination
Urgently scrambling in dim surroundings
Towards the slither of a comforting white light
Illuminating the end of a narrow, elongated tunnel

An audible sigh of relief
Exhaled when the realization
That the distance to the final stages
Was gradually closing in

A beginning, middle, and ending
An introduction, body, and conclusion
Of a noteworthy literary work
Deserving recognition and praise

The author's comments:
I wrote a poem about not knowing what to choose for the topic of my next piece. I decided to write about my struggle of how to start my master metaphor poem.
