So broken, yet so bound

Being torn between the two

Letting go of the pain, or letting go of you

I tried to listen to others, When they said just let it be

But my heart refused to not love you

And I couldn’t be set free

But maybe you didn’t know how to show love

Or just didn’t know what it meant
Because your eyes showed hatred

And didn’t show you content

But I knew you loved me inside

So why should it matter

Even if my body did look different

From the before, To the after

Maybe it was because of that night

Oh how it was so dark and cold

Maybe if I listened to others

This story wouldn’t have to be told

I knew that you were mad that night

And I should have let you leave

But something in my heart said no don’t go, Just come stay here with me

So I pulled against your arms

Because I wanted you to stay

Even as the blood ran from my cheek

I still pulled anyways

I still pulled toward your body, As mine turned black and blue

I knew your hands had a mind of their own

Because I knew it wasn’t you

I knew those loving eyes of yours

Couldn’t be filled with blood and rage

I knew I was imagining things that it was facade

But as I screamed I loved you

And tears ran from my eyes

Numbness fell over my body

And darkness came as a surprise

I felt paralyzed within myself

As you pulled my air from me

Your hands at my throat

Your heart not within my reach

But I heard your voice call to me

As I slowly slipped away

I heard your heart beat for me

Wanting me to stay

But I couldn’t feel myself

As I tried to reach to you

With blood upon my face

My body black and blue

So now I lay in the dirt

As you still walk above me

But I won’t shed a tear for you

Because I know one day you’ll learn to love me

I love this poem. It just seems like a story about a girl in love with their rapist. Sad but that what i see
