The way it smells and feels.

I bet you didn’t know I listen to hard rock,
When I am angry at nothing at all.
I bet you didn’t know I listen to soft music,
When I feel like I’m about to fall.

I bet you didn’t know I like to read about vampires,
And books that make my cry.
I bet you didn’t know I feel sympathy for every little thing,
And I am never certain why.

I bet you didn’t know that I like night over day,
I like to watch as the world is at rest.
I bet you didn’t know that I love puzzles,
Things that give my mind a test.

I bet you didn’t know I wish to be more than I am,
Even though I like being different and strange.
I bet you didn’t know I don’t feel good enough,
I just don’t know how to change.

I bet you didn’t know I write my poetry,
To help set my caged half free.
I bet you didn’t know what I write,
Is all I have to give of me.

I bet you didn’t know I secretly want to be pretty,
Or at prom, to have a date.
I bet you didn’t know I am like other girls,
I just have a different fate.

I bet you didn’t know I am not who you think,
I am different but I am the same.
I bet you don’t even know who I am,
Even if you know my name.

I bet you didn’t realize any of this,
That this is who you never saw.
I bet you didn’t even know,
That you never knew me at all.
