Falling
Blue, stunning blue sky
Stars glinting mischievously
As the light drains from the day
Brilliantly colored leaves
Like the color of highlighters
And thin-tipped Sharpies
Used to make posters in class
While outside a song moves the wind
Curling around me, a memory
With a wide smile like the moon's
And an addictive laugh
That makes my stomach drop as I join in
Funny and honest the trees laugh with me
They're confident, standing on firm ground
Arrogantly looking down
But not thinking they're superior
As the me and the leaves stop resisting
And we fall
