I Hear America Crying
I hear America crying, the sounds of misery I hear
The noises, coughs and huffs of a grandparent as they see their daughter and niece for the last time
The sighs and whimpers of a child as they wonder where their next meal will come from
The sound of clanking cups as a homeless man tries to make a few bucks to survive
The sound of a cancer patient crying as they try to hold back the pain and stress
The boom! Bang! Bong of guns as a soldier fears his life is near out of time
Each situation pays its toll
It's just one bump in the road that brings Americans pain
But to have happiness you must first experience pain
So they go on living and putting up a fight
