"I think the only reason people hold on to memories so tightly is because memories are the only things that don't change, when everything and everyone else does."

To step back and reflect
is to find a calm serenity.
To think about the
brilliance of creation.
We are all here...
living and breathing.
We are seeing,
talking,
walking,
sleeping.
Thus a masterpiece
of indescribable beauty.
Who would have thought
that we would be here?
Who would have thought
that we would have the chance
to do this all?
Each and every day
we are alive is a
new journey
in which we are given,
no strings attached.
At times we lose appreciation
for our lives, and we wonder,
Why me?
But life is a gift.
One that we continue to unwrap everyday.
We take good turns
and bad.
Yet we are still here.
With this tranquil force of nature,
expressing it's love
and undying gratitude for us.
The world was created for all,
but also for you.
See, we are the world.
So every now and then
just stop, and give so thanks.
Think how surreal it seems
that we are alive.

One of my classmates passed away recently, from a completely natural death. I wrote a tribute to him in our school newspaper, and as I was writing it, I started thinking about what a privilege it is to actually be alive. I hope you enjoy!
