Beautiful Foe
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
No, for you last longer than a single day in May
And a summer's day does not please all
As oh so many prefer the winter, spring, or fall
Indeed though art as valuable as gold,
And trick fools with fool's gold which all fools hold
But you offer more than simple stone
Who lives past others, and thus stands alone
You are as beautiful as a rose
Given to those who suffer your own woes
Yet a rose withers and dies
And is only pleasing to nose and eyes
A creature as troublesome as stormy seas
And has as many casualties as a tempest indeed
Only a sea's storm the body harms
While your troubles come with a face of charm
Tormenting spirit you are!
Who attacks all with open heart!
As wonderful as a summer golden rose
Born of tempest; spirit, you are a tricking foe
