One Year
A year ago today
You were gone and I lingered
Whispers flow indignantly around
Crowded hallways and silent classrooms
The world was spinning in cascading colors of blue, grey, and resignment
We both fell hard
Bound by poisonous snared
That snaked interchangeably across our paths
That left us both the shattered remnants
Of time poorly spent
Until one of us decided
Through dangerously failed trials
That it was time
To turn from their muddled perception
And into the brisk light that coated every inch of their being
And embrace once more
Forever more
And, unfortunately to say dear,
That one was not you
