Always learned to love
But was never loved back
Life seemed a blur
Up till today,
Always learned to give
Never to take
That’s what kept me in my shell
I was a lonely soul who dwelled
In raising solitude
In pain and sorrow
Until one day
While walking in a garden
I saw a Rose and
I wanted to take it
Take it away
To my grim world
To fill it with color and joy
It seemed as if I found a new toy
So I touched it’s tender petals
But with my touch they turned to metal
It's once soft features faded away
Thorns immerged out of thin air
And that sweet, sweet Rose
Turned into something to fear
No more love
No more sweetness,
I had previously witnessed
The thorns prickled my skin
As a punishment
Scarlet drops trickled down
My pale numb fingers
Trying to escape from the pain
It made me see that
Beauty is nothing but vain
There is no gain
Without pain
There is no escape from the blame
The invisible flames that burned,
Me, from the start,
At the betrayal of the
Beautiful cold heart
I left the Rose
Running away in the cold wind
Swift as a dart

The enlightenment that occurs to you when you find out what you thought or perceived someone is so not what… they turn out to be and all you can do is run away from them.
