Noise

I step outside and I can feel a quiet tapping Sneaking up my spine Constant muffled rapping Muted, stifled sound. I can hear quiet chatter Mouths like leaky faucets Drip-dripping whispery drops, Dragging me into a gleaming white Slippery Porcelain Sink. But I resist. Retreat. Feet against the floor Soft walking Tip-toeing back inside To escape the murmurs That awful prattle Knock-knocking Like fists against my door.
