A promise, promise made to me
A promise, promise you gave you see
Smiles assured, time endured
And yet I stand alone
A promise, promise, from smooth lips
A promise, promise that still rips
When you walked out in the storm,
You let the water wash away
A promise, promise you couldn’t keep
A promise, promise the darkness weeps
Secrets drifted once you left
I too have words left unsaid
A promise, promise from a cold core
A promise, promise alive no more
I walk alone and hold his hand
The son who knows no father man

I usually HATE repetition in poems, but it really works here! Great job, I can't think of any improvements I'd make!
