After the Rain
The world heaves and sighs
under a concrete dusting
of forever drip-drops
Sunshine yellow grins
under a grey veil
woo her
to see her real smile
your bride
seen her once or twice over
Pound the side wall
the facade
kiss it
kiss the windows
find the work-mans break
his lazy spot
and leer at the quivering flanks
of the shy-faced homeowners
the folded folds
of one very dead rose
The stucco melts into the mouth
of a wide yucca mouth
waiting for taffy
waiting for brown taffy
Four days can go
just as fast as you want
or just as slow
