Bittersweet
Today is a brand new day,
A day to live a new way.
A day to get past the past,
It’s ok to let your self laugh.
Today’s a day to bare your scars,
To dare to look towards the stars,
And wish for something more.
I’m re-born,
Brand new,
Alive.
But the old me is still alive.
It still lingers in that box,
Watching,
Waiting,
Tempting.
But I’m almost free.
With a broken wing I cry,
I don’t want to die anymore.
The old me was so cold.
Like a paper house I fold.
I’m back,
Gone,
Back.
All this outward pain hurts my soul,
But I don’t want to die anymore.
Ask anyone but me,
I’ve gotten better.
Ask anyone but me,
they see a smile,
I’m drifting again.
But today is a brand new day,
A day to live a new way.
A day to get past the past,
It’s ok to let your self laugh.
Today’s a day to bare your scars,
To dare to look towards the stars,
And wish for something more.
It’s a bittersweet redemption.
