I don’t dream
Staring up at the stars.
For what are stars
but distant pinpricks
engulfed in darkness?
Rather my dreams are of daylight
leaves shivering in the sun
a stream sliding over
rounded stones
on the air moist with morning sun
worthless
some would call them
Perhaps yes
they are not bold.
But better to dream in the gleaming light
than to wish on a dot in darkness.
