A hot tear streamed down my cheek.
I wiped it off but another filled its place.
I wished he could hold her again.
Tell her I loved her again.
But I couldn’t.
Because she’s gone.
I lumbered over to my bed.
I sat.
I looked down at the droplets forming on the edge of my cheeks, which only made me more sad.
I didn’t do anything.
I didn’t cheat.
I didn’t lie.
The only thing that I did was make her ex jealous.
She broke his heart.
The ex got mad when he saw us together.
And he took it out one night.
I had just left.
Not 15 minuets.
He snuck in.
Through an open window I guess.
He had pulled out a gun.
And that was the end.
I had turned on the TV the next morning.
Planning out how I was going to propose.
Fancy restaurant, singing waiter, and a complete surprise.
Had a ring in hand.
Turned on the morning news.
A death near my house.
Only 2 neighborhoods away.
Didn’t think much of it.
Until they let out the address.
Curious I thought I had misheard it.
I had thought they said my girlfriends.
Then her name scrolled across the screen.
And a picture of hers.
I pulled out my wallet and opened it up.
And the picture matched perfectly.
