I don't need a rose. I want a daisy you picked for my hair. I don't want some fancy box of chocolate. I want a pink frosting cookie you made just for me. Lets skip the upscale restaraunt and have a picnic in the park.

Yes,
My hands still shake
Whenever someone
I don’t know
Starts talking to me

Yes,
My voice still drops
To just above
A whisper
Whenever I cannot find
The perfect words

Yes,
I still ask if I may
Before sitting down
With a group of people
Even if I know
Everyone present

Yes,
I still sit out
Most of the fast songs
At any given dance
No matter who I’m with

I am stronger than before,
And I am an ex-wallflower

I am not invisible,
Not a shadow
On the fringe of life

I am an ex-wallflower

Yes,
My hands still shake
But the rest of me
Does not
And I have the confidence
To look people in the eye

Yes,
My voice drops
But it does not fade
To silence
Because I have the confidence
To speak my mind

Yes,
I still ask if I may sit with any group of people
But at least I have the confidence
To walk up and ask
Instead of sitting
Alone

Yes,
I still sit out
Most of the fast songs
But now I have enough confidence
To enjoy every single
Slow song
And even a few
Not-so-slow ones

I am stronger now,
And I am an ex-wallflower

Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep, it's such a bitter form of refuge, oh don't you know the kingdom's under siege, and everbody needs you. - The Killers

This is really good, and I love it especially because I'm also an ex-wallflower. Great work! Think maybe sometime you can check out mine?

This is a really great poem. I love how people might perceive this person, the ex-wallflower, as weak in the beginning, but then you show them how far that she's come from where she was, and it changed the whole mood.

Nicely done!!
