Night weighed down the sun-stained clouds
that were the color of roses
and all of my natural poses were lead
to their position due to
what I was drinking. I stopped thinking
and started sinking into
the warmth the great people around
me provided.
My smile spread into cement
until my vision was slowly spent
and even though I could barely see
it was perfectly okay with me.
I felt so free, ignoring created time
and being out of line, breaking rules
yet feeling fine with what is mine.
The growing grass grazed
across my leaning legs
and my open arms begged the sky for cover.
As the humidity hovered,
my sleepless song and nocturnal ways
allowed me to witness the birth of the day.
We sat amongst bales of hay
as we huddled close
watching our lungs unleash ghosts
just to keep the rising cold away.
And then
that light
dripped from the sun
and with reaching us both
we felt
like one
