black hearted

she's cowering in the corner
licking her not-quite-fatal wounds
eyes searching the darkness
for any hint of movement
everywhere she sees a face
his eyes filled with rage.
she's fighting off her demons
with a silver-sharp knife
lightening flashes a sadistic smile
thunder claps in twisted laughter
blood-loss
madness
every ounce of pain she feels
is a pound of his sick pleasure
every single one of her scars
is protecting his blackened heart
