My "Heaven on Earth"
“Dancing with the feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another.”
~Terri Guillemets
My calmness.
My peace.
Every time I slip on the tightly fitted leather shoes I feel like I can do anything.
I slide up the wooden stairs, my fingers just barely touching the surface of the rail
I feel like I am flying to Heaven
My steps make a drumming beat
I hear it as my bones connect to the floor of the studio,
Swiftly, Carefully
The moment I step onto the cold, hard, rubber dance floor
My body signals me to leap, battement, fly
I cannot help myself but to do the things I love
This is a plain, simple, effortless exercise in most of earth’s eyes
But in mine, and the ones who have experienced it,
Know that it is a struggle that seems unreachable
