I am from...
I am from cleats pounding on the frostbitten grass
Crackling and popping like a freshly brewed fire
From critical eyes hiding behind glasses and
The king who had 6 wives.
I am from big dusty rooms stuffed with
Large marble fireplaces antique rugs and
Blanketed furniture forgotten under the white folds of age.
I am from weeds grasping to life between the unnoticed
 Cracks in the solitary cement.
I am from Bonfire Nights and curled pinky toes
 From Huw, Rebecca and Emmeline
I am from 4:00 tea and cheese sandwiches
I am from England, from buttery crumpets and
 crunchy biscuits
I am From the mother who got a fish stuck in her bathing suit
From the father who got his toe chopped off in
 a lawn mower “accident”
and from the Grandma that bought a biting chihuahua.
I am from an cracked old box up in my Moms closet
frozen in time, depicted with age
 worth the world to me.
