The boy
creeps down the driveway
tip toeing carefully
towards
The orange monsters
sitting on the porch
Glaring
at him
Grinning with razor teeth
Glowing their staring eyes
Crookedly crouching
Glaring
At him
Nearer, slowly nearer
The boy hovers closer
Curious, his brow wrinkles
But ready to run at any danger
Kneeling down
He looks into the monsters eyes
The monsters fiery eyes
The boy stares into them
Seeing the fire
Burning
Within
The boy smiles
There is a candle inside
“Happy Birthday!” the boy sings
“Happy Birthday to you!”
The Jack-O-Lantern monster
Continues smiling
Happy Halloween.
