Too Young

She grew up
old and lonely,
never finding
love’s embrace.
She had fallen
in love at
too young an
age, during
a time when
she couldn’t
do anything
about it.
And so as
life went on
she remained
just on the
cusp of love
but always
being held
back by the
memory of that
perfect boy
that she let
get away
because she
was too
young.
