Autumn Fire

On a walk through the woods in autumn,
The air is crisp and cool.
The sun is warm,
Streaming down through breaks in the trees.
Their leaves are a fire:
a crimson, gold, and orange blaze.
And underfoot they’re just the same,
Crackling, crunching to pieces.
The chill of the wind warns of winter’s approach,
But in the trees, the essence of autumn
is like fire,
Burning away the summer green.
