Midnight's Illusion
As morning lifts my eyes
 I calmly awaken
 The sun’s innocent rise
 The sweet smell of bacon

 One thing I know
 Night will fall again
 The moon soon to show
 Returns like an old friend

 Although daytime’s pleasant
 Nothing can compare
 Night is like my present
 Her cooling calm air

As the sky goes to rest
As she lay down her head
 She’s looking her best
As she sleeps in her bed

 The way the stars shine
 When they sparkle and glow
 Calm my busy mind
As they put on a show

 Open my window
 Wave her good-bye
 The day has been slow
 But I close my eyes

 The sky, black like soot
 And of course in conclusion
 I’d rather set foot
 Into midnight’s illusion
