Death stopped by
I did not know how close I was,
‘till death stopped by for her.
I did not hear the clock ticking by,
‘till death stopped by for her.
I did not see the large tree,
nor did I think on that bright day,
that somehow something would go wrong,
and I would be left here wondering.
I did not feel the light breath,
‘till death stopped by for her.
I did not know how short,
nor how precious and dear,
life was on earth,
until that fateful day.
I did not see the coming night,
‘till death stopped by for her.
I now have seen the bright new dawn,
since death stopped by for her.
I now know what love is,
since death stopped by for her.
