The Darkest Hour
In the darkest hour
is when the demons come.
Invading your mind.
Mutating your thoughts.
When loneliness leaves you empty,
the blackness seeps through the cracks.
Where happy things used to reside,
is where frightening things take their place.
Nightfall is when the shadows
come to life. When the light
ceases to exist, and you forget
what it felt like to be cheerful.
Nightmares scale the inner workings
of your subconscious, corrupting
what used to be pure. Shattering
the illusion of what you believed to be faith.
When the sky is black,
insidious things roam free.
Where they pass, the ground is
scorched and charred into nothingness.
Those consumed with the black light,
are the crazed and sinful...
It is quiet until the maddened
screams pierce through the night.
