Open My Eyes

Stuck in this place with nowhere to go
What lies outside I cannot know
Longing for release, to see the beautiful night sky
To see the stars twinkling so high
I yearn for the cool breeze on my face
To be free from this retched place
My heart burns in the fire of my own pain
It confuses me so much I struggle to remember my own name
I become so frantic at the first sign of light
But then I realize I’ve still got my eyes shut tight
